Rachel McAdams Talks Marvel’s Sorcerer Supreme

In a recent interview with MTV, Rachel McAdams spoke about Doctor Strange, the upcoming release from Marvel Studios, which she is set to star in alongside Benedict Cumberbatch, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Tilda Swinton.

Although her role in Doctor Strange has yet to be revealed, speculation abounds that McAdams is either playing Clea (a love interest of Dr. Strange) or possibly Christine Palmer (from the Night Nurse comic books). Despite the uncertainty on whom she will portray, McAdams did confirm that she has begun shooting and said of the project: “It’s definitely not going to be like any of the other [Marvel] films.”

Part of the reason for that departure is director Scott Derrickson, whose work in the horror and occult genres make him an ideal fit for a character of Dr. Strange’s caliber. McAdams said of the director: “I mean, I just love the director. I met with Scott [Derrickson] and loved his vision, he was so passionate. And the opportunity to work with Benedict was kind of a no-brainer. And Marvel makes amazing films, so it was a complete package.”

Set for a November 4, 2016 theatrical release, Doctor Strange is directed by Scott Derrickson and stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Rachel McAdams, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Tilda Swinton.
